Malting Barley Report January 2017 published

The crop 2016 is performing well in all our malting houses and despite higher protein levels in Scandinavia – malt extract results are on high levels.
Trading activities and also Brewers’ needs for new coverage seem to be on a low level.  Our expectation is that there is still a decent volume of malting barley in farmers hands in Scandinavia – so good supply for the rest of crop 2016 season is secured.
It is a long time ago we had this nearly constant malting barley prices for such a long period. Some winter kill is reported from areas after the very low temperatures we had in some regions in the beginning of this year.
Too early still, but soon will the news about drilling start and progress influence the market.
